Capturing the Spirit of Pedalling for Parkinson Canada – August 17, 2024

This past Saturday, August 17, 2024, I had the privilege of photographing an incredibly inspiring event — Pedalling for Parkinson, held in the picturesque setting of Prince Edward County. Over 40 riders gathered for a day of cycling, camaraderie, and heartfelt support for an important cause, and I was honoured to be there to capture it all.

A Day of Dedication and Determination

The atmosphere was exciting from the moment the cyclists arrived, their energy and enthusiasm palpable. These weren't just any riders; many of them had a personal connection to Parkinson's disease, with some participants even living with the condition themselves. Despite the challenges they face, they rode with determination, proving that Parkinson’s doesn’t have to define them. It was particularly uplifting to hear how regular exercise, such as cycling, can help slow the progression of the disease, offering hope and motivation to those affected.

Raising Funds and Awareness

The event was more than just a physical challenge — it was a powerful fundraiser for Parkinson Canada. The group raised over $45,000, a significant contribution that will go towards supporting research, advocacy, and services for those living with Parkinson's. Each dollar raised represents a step forward in the fight against this disease, and I was truly moved by the generosity and commitment of everyone involved.

Personal Stories That Inspire

One of the most touching aspects of the day was hearing the personal stories from the riders. Each one had a unique journey that brought them to this event, whether they were cycling for a loved one, raising awareness, or challenging their own limits. As I captured their images, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by their resilience and passion. It’s moments like these that remind me of the power of photography to tell stories and preserve memories that go far beyond the frame.

Looking Ahead

I’m deeply grateful to have been a part of Pedalling for Parkinson Canada and to witness firsthand the incredible impact of this event. I look forward to continuing my work with Parkinson Canada and supporting their mission through my photography. This experience has left a lasting impression on me, and I hope that through my images, I can share a glimpse of the strength, hope, and community that I witnessed on that beautiful August day.

To all the riders, supporters, and organizers — thank you for allowing me to be a part of this unforgettable event. Your dedication and spirit are truly inspiring.
